Publicado en marzo de 1971 por Barclay, el \u00e1lbum conceptual de Serge Gainsbourg dura apenas media hora y se niega a desperdiciar un plano. Jean-Claude Vannier coescribe y arregla la m\u00fasica; Jane Birkin presta a Melody su presencia hablada y cantada; la portada de Tony Frank congela a Birkin sobre un fondo azul plano, vaqueros desabrochados, una mu\u00f1eca apretada contra el pecho.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La secci\u00f3n r\u00edtmica se grab\u00f3 en Londres, en salas de estudio que, seg\u00fan Vannier, parec\u00edan m\u00e1s apartamentos que f\u00e1bricas. Par\u00eds recibi\u00f3 despu\u00e9s las cuerdas, los colores de piano y el coro de las Jeunesses musicales que convierten \u201cCargo Culte\u201d en una catedral que se derrumba. Entre esos polos: \u201cBallade de Melody Nelson\u201d, \u201cValse de Melody\u201d, \u201cAh ! Melody\u201d y \u201cL&#8217;h\u00f4tel particulier\u201d, siete cap\u00edtulos de persecuci\u00f3n, seducci\u00f3n y p\u00e9rdida, m\u00e1s susurrados que cantados. La voz de Gainsbourg se queda pegada al micr\u00f3fono, a medio camino entre el relato y la herida.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al principio el p\u00fablico encogi\u00f3 de hombros. Mezclaban su modernidad musical con el high tea, una costumbre que me gustaba mucho. Siete escenas, veintiocho minutos, Melody hablada por Jane Birkin, cuerdas de Vannier y un bajo que rechaza la chanson educada. Gainsbourg trat\u00f3 el \u00e1lbum como un storyboard.
