Atom Heart Mother<\/em> se public\u00f3 el 2 de octubre de 1970 en Harvest como quinto \u00e1lbum de estudio de Pink Floyd. La cara A es la suite t\u00edtulo, unos veintitr\u00e9s minutos, coacreditada a la banda y al compositor escoc\u00e9s Ron Geesin, que arregl\u00f3 metales y el coro John Alldis sobre la base rock del grupo. En Abbey Road, Alan Parsons figura entre los ingenieros; Norman Smith sigue como productor ejecutivo. La cara B pasa a piezas m\u00e1s cortas: If<\/em> (Waters), Summer ’68<\/em> (Wright), Fat Old Sun<\/em> (Gilmour) y el collage improvisado Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast<\/em> con el roadie Alan Stiles.<\/p>\n

Storm Thorgerson (Hipgnosis) fotografi\u00f3 la portada en un campo cerca de Potters Bar: una vaca frisona, Lulubelle III, sin nombre de banda ni t\u00edtulo en el frente. La imagen pastoral en blanco fue un gesto antipsicod\u00e9lico tras a\u00f1os de collage surrealista. La relaci\u00f3n con Geesin fue tensa; los metales sufr\u00edan con las partituras, y la banda luego se mostr\u00f3 ambivalente con la suite aunque el p\u00fablico la abraz\u00f3 en directo, incluidos los rodajes de St Tropez y el Bath Festival en 1970.<\/p>\n

Harvest vendi\u00f3 el disco con la vaca como cartel en blanco, y la falta de texto en portada form\u00f3 parte del relato comercial. Dentro, el contraste entre la ambici\u00f3n orquestal de Geesin y los bocetos dom\u00e9sticos de la cara B muestra una banda que a\u00fan decide si Floyd son suites, canciones o experimentos de cinta. En menos de un a\u00f1o, Meddle<\/em> responder\u00eda con m\u00e1s claridad.
