Tras la larga gira mundial de Californication<\/em>, Anthony Kiedis, Flea, John Frusciante y Chad Smith empiezan a escribir a finales de 2001 en un piso tranquilo del Chateau Marmont, y luego graban con Rick Rubin en Cello Studios y otras salas de Los \u00c1ngeles hasta mayo de 2002. Warner Bros. publica By the Way<\/em> el 9 de julio de 2002. El balance es estil\u00edstico y medible: misma formaci\u00f3n y mismo productor que Californication<\/em>, pero una gram\u00e1tica mel\u00f3dica m\u00e1s densa que hace sonar el rock de arena casi como pop arreglado, sin soltar el nombre Chili Peppers.<\/p>\n

Para quien solo conoc\u00eda Give It Away<\/em>, By the Way<\/em> es la prueba m\u00e1s clara de que el segundo mandato de Frusciante no es un reboot nost\u00e1lgico.
