Changes<\/em> cierra el capitulo de singles del ano In the Heat of the Night<\/em> de Imagination. R&B Records lo publico en el Reino Unido el 26 de noviembre de 1982 (catalogo RBS \/ RBL 213); MCA lo llevo a EE. UU. en 1983. El 7″ ronda los cuatro minutos; el 12″ pasa de cinco. La voz de Leee John se apoya en el bajo de Ashley Ingram y la bateria de Errol Kennedy, envueltos en el mix post-disco brillante que Tony Swain y Steve Jolley ya habian probado en Just an Illusion<\/em> y Music and Lights<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Los creditos de escritura citan a Ingram, John, Jolley y Swain. Las sesiones del album pasaron por Red Bus, PRT, Marcus Music y Nova en Londres. Donde Just an Illusion<\/em> llego al n.\u00ba 2 UK antes en 1982, Changes<\/em> se quedo en el n.\u00ba 31: sigue siendo Top 40, ya no el mismo evento nacional. La letra trata la palabra \u00abchanges\u00bb como clima emocional mas que como discurso politico, coherente con la imagen de raso y luces del trio en Top of the Pops<\/em> y las TV europeas.<\/p>\n

El videoclip oficial (Red Bus \/ subidas de catalogo posteriores) mantiene a la banda en modo actuacion: John al centro, Ingram y Kennedy en cuadro, vestuario alineado con las bromas visuales de senador romano \/ harem de sus conciertos early-80s. La radio siguio prefiriendo los hits mayores de 1982, pero los DJs de club que querian un Imagination a tempo medio iban al 12″.<\/p>\n

Tras Music and Lights<\/em>, el corte es la habitacion mas fresca del mismo album: menos embestida de glitter, mas falsete controlado. Para una banda vestida como drama de epoca, Changes<\/em> habla con sorprendente franqueza de los cambios de humor.<\/p>\n
