John Frusciante quitte le groupe en pleine tourn\u00e9e en 1992 alors que Blood Sugar Sex Magik<\/em> explose. Apr\u00e8s de courts passages d’Arik Marshall et Jesse Tobias, les Red Hot Chili Peppers engagent Dave Navarro de Jane’s Addiction en 1993. L’enregistrement de One Hot Minute<\/em> s’\u00e9tale de juin 1994 \u00e0 f\u00e9vrier 1995 au Sound Factory \u00e0 Hollywood et \u00e0 Sound City \u00e0 Van Nuys, encore avec Rick Rubin. Warner Bros. sort l’album le 12 septembre 1995. C’est le seul LP studio de Navarro avec le groupe.<\/p>\n

Le son de guitare est plus lourd et plus psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique que le scratch funk sec de Frusciante. Warped<\/em> ouvre sur des guitares empil\u00e9es et tourbillonnantes et des paroles sur le besoin de r\u00e9paration. Aeroplane<\/em> bascule vers un midtempo avec des voix d’enfants \u00e0 la fin, dont Clara, la fille de Flea. My Friends<\/em> vise la radio ballade dans la voie ouverte par Under the Bridge<\/em>. Transcending<\/em> porte le texte de Flea en hommage \u00e0 River Phoenix. One Big Mob<\/em>, Shallow Be Thy Game<\/em> et le titre \u00e9ponyme poussent metal et funk dans des empilements plus denses que le disque de 1991. Le chaos personnel autour de l’addiction ralentit l’\u00e9criture et la chimie de tourn\u00e9e; les sessions durent bien plus longtemps que le sprint de Laurel Canyon pour Blood Sugar Sex Magik<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Les singles incluent Warped<\/em> (ao\u00fbt 1995), My Friends<\/em> (octobre) et Aeroplane<\/em> (f\u00e9vrier 1996), plus des sorties locales de Shallow Be Thy Game<\/em> et Coffee Shop<\/em>. Le clip de Gavin Bowden pour Aeroplane<\/em> maintient le groupe visible sur MTV, mais la campagne n’\u00e9gale jamais la saturation culturelle d’Under the Bridge<\/em>. Navarro est vir\u00e9 en 1998 sur fond de probl\u00e8mes de drogue; Frusciante revient bient\u00f4t et le chapitre studio suivant devient Californication<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Il vend tout de m\u00eame moins de la moiti\u00e9 de Blood Sugar Sex Magik<\/em> et reste le creux commercial et critique entre les deux pics Frusciante.<\/p>\n

Le bilan est documentaire plus que triomphal: une formation, un producteur, une guitare plus sombre, et le rappel que la marque Chili Peppers n’\u00e9tait pas automatique sans Frusciante. Pour l’auditeur, c’est encore le chapitre Navarro – plus lourd, plus \u00e9trange, et le pont n\u00e9cessaire vers le reboot de 1999.<\/p>\n
