Which band holds the World Record for the loudest rock concert in history?

When it comes to pushing the limits of volume, some rock bands have turned their concerts into full-blown sonic assaults.

The record for the loudest rock concert is generally attributed to the band Manowar, known for their thunderous performances.

The event took place in Hanover, Germany, in 2008, where the band reached an astonishing 139 decibels. To put that in perspective, a jet engine at close range typically produces around 130 decibels, and the threshold of pain for the human ear is considered to be around 120 to 130 decibels.

Other historical contenders include The Who, who reached 126 decibels in London in 1976, and Motörhead, whose live shows were often measured at around 130 decibels. KISS and AC/DC are also known for their extremely loud performances, although no official measurement has surpassed Manowar’s record.

Interestingly, after some Manowar concerts, attendees have reported headaches, ringing in the ears, and even holes in the walls of poorly insulated venues.
